White Horse Close
Only a 10 minute walk from Rossie Place, the picturesque White Horse Close is often passed by tourists unaware that this beautiful courtyard lies at the foot of the Royal Mile. Look for the arches on the right hand side of the road.
White Horse Close acquired its name when an Inn was erected and named in honour of Queen Mary's white palfrey (horse).
During 1745 the inn acted as a headquarters for Jacobite officers, while Bonnie Prince Charlie resided at Holyrood Palace.
